Deep red natural garnets are bezel-set in polished silver, their glow catching the light just above a pair of softly hammered, oxidised silver circles. Within each darkened disc, a small silver heart rests, a quiet detail full of feeling.

How this jewellery was made ↓

Hand crafted using traditional methods. The hearts and circles were cut from a sheet of silver with a piercing saw, filed, sanded and soldered together, then holes drilled at the tops. The stone settings were created by fitting a very thin strip of fine silver bezel around each stone and making little rings, which were then soldered to sheets of sterling silver, then the diamond shapes cut out around the setting. These were filed and sanded and holes drilled at the tops and bottoms of each one. The pieces were then placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by more sanding and lots of polishing. The stones were then placed in the settings and the silver bezel pushed over the top to hold them in place and burnished before assembling the pieces with jump rings and hanging each earring on a beaded hook wire.
