How this jewellery was made

Hand made using traditional methods. The little silver balls were created by melting small pieces of sterling silver. The stone settings were created by fitting a strip of fine silver bezel around the stones which was then soldered to a sheet of sterling silver along with the silver balls and jump ring. The pendant was then cut out with a piercing saw, carefully filed and sanded with several grades of abrasive papers. The piece was placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by lots of cleaning and polishing to give the pendant its lovely sheen. A patina was added to blacken the backing plate to highlight the shiny raised parts of the pendant. The stones were placed in their settings and the silver bezel shaped over to hold them in place, and burnished before adding jump rings.
